Lucky for you, you came here. Our experts here at Chiro Match Makers have all of the expertise you need to know when finding a chiropractic doctor. As a chiropractor staffing agency ourselves, we can teach you a few things.
So, keep reading if you want to learn more.
1. The Discovery Process
Many of our clients begin the hiring process before they even know who they’re trying to hire. In their minds, they believe that the right person will jump out during interviews.
But, it’s not that simple.
In order to find the right person, you have to understand the position that you’re trying to fill. And, you have to take any future changes into account.
To start, you need to know a few things:
- Why are you filling this role?
- What purpose is this role going to serve in the practice?
- How should this individual work in this role in relation to others in your practice?
- Where is this role going to be located?
- When will you be ready to hire the associate doctor?
- Who are you looking for?
- How much are you willing to pay the new hire?
By pondering and answering all of these questions, you’re setting yourself up for success in the hiring process. Without these guidelines, you’re not going to hire the right individual.
2. The Four Rights to Hire a Chiropractor Doctor
If you’re hiring professionals for open chiropractic roles in your practice, you need to keep the four rights in mind:
- The Right Person
- The Right Role
- The Right Work
- The Right Way
In essence, this mantra encourages finding the right person for the job. To do this, we have to look at the roles and responsibilities of the job as well as the work an applicant does. And, we should consider how the applicant does this work.
If you can find the person that fits all of these criteria, you may have found the perfect chiropractic doctor for the job.
But, how do you know if someone fits these criteria when you’re hiring chiropractors?
Well, you have to look through three lenses: the objective lens, the subjective lens, and the historical lens.
The objective lens tells you how this applicant looks on paper. For this step, you’ll be looking at the applicant’s testing, background check, and the like.
The subjective lens comes through during the interview process. This is the time during which you can create an emotional, independent opinion of the individual.
Lastly, you should look through the historical lens by looking at the applicant’s previous history. You should also consider references when looking through this lens.
By looking through these three lenses, you’ll be able to find the right associate chiropractor for your practice.
3. The Perfect Timing
“When is the right time to hire an associate doctor?” It’s one of the most common questions that we get during seminars, introductory calls, and more.
Everyone wants to pinpoint the right time for them to start the hiring process. But, without knowing your exact practice and its exact situation, it’s hard to define this timeline.
That’s because the perfect timing for your practice is going to be different from every other practice out there. That means that you have to be acutely aware of your practice and what it needs at any given time.
This takes leadership and organizational skills that a lot of us don’t have. But, that doesn’t mean it’s too late to form them.
First, we recommend looking at the rules and procedures for your specific practice. You may already have a common procedure in place when it comes to hiring a new associate doctor. It may hinge on patient volumes, current staff availability, and more.
If there isn’t a procedure in place, it may be time to make one. This is the foundation that you have to have before you even think about hiring an associate.
Without the right timing, you aren’t going to be able to find the right doctor. This is because you won’t have the need for this new physician. So, you’re not likely to hire the right person for the job.
4. The Vision and Mission Statements
Hopefully, your chiropractic practice has vision and mission statements. If not, there should be some general goals or wishes for your practice.
These are the key to finding the right associate doctors for open chiropractor roles. And, we find that many of the clients at our doctor staffing agency don’t understand this.
In order to find the right person, the candidate has to align with your practice’s mission and vision statements. And, your entire team has to be on board with the future of the practice and the goals that you’ve set to get there.
5. The Training Culture
Lastly, we want to focus on the training culture.
Many of our clients come to our chiropractor staffing agency asking for a doctor that they can hire (“plugin”) quickly. In other words, they want someone that requires very little if any training.
But, no matter how experienced a chiropractic doctor is, you still have to require and perform some training. If the applicant you’re considering isn’t expecting training or isn’t excited about training, this may be a red flag.
The right person is going to want to take their time to learn about your practice’s culture. At the same time, they need to your rules, regulations, and procedures.
So, before you start the hiring process, you need to develop a training culture.
