  • 7:30 am to 4:30 pm or 8:30 am to 5:30 pm

Job Description:

The Dental Assistant is responsible for assisting dentists during procedures, managing dental assistant staff, maintaining dental supplies and equipment, and ensuring compliance with all health and safety regulations. This role requires excellent communication and leadership skills, as well as a deep knowledge of dental procedures and office operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Clinical Support: 

  • Assist dentists during a variety of treatment procedures.
  • Take and record patient medical and dental histories and vital signs.
  • Prepare and sterilize instruments and equipment.
  • Take dental radiographs proficiently, including Panoramic & CBCT imaging.
  • Provide patients with instructions for oral care following surgery or other dental treatment procedures.

Team Leadership and Training: 

  • Supervise and train dental assistants in the office.
  • Operate ongoing dental assistant training programs –
  1. For existing clinical employees according to both individual and group needs.
  2. A community-based course to train new dental assistants for the local dental community.
  • Coordinate schedules and ensure that all shifts are covered.
  • Prepare and conduct regular dental assistant team meetings and training sessions to review protocols and procedures.
  • Actively prepare for practice team meetings and fully participate.

Inventory and Equipment Management:  

  • Manage inventory of dental materials, supplies, and equipment.
  • Order dental supplies and maintain dental equipment according to the budget set by the dental office manager.

Administrative Duties:

  • Maintain dental records; retrieve dental records when requested.
  • Assist with the billing process and insurance claims.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and safety standards.

Patient Interaction:

  • Greet patients and prepare them for treatment.
  • Address patient concerns and ensure a comfortable and informed experience.

Qualifications: 

  • Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) credential is preferred, but not required.
  • Experience as a Dental Assistant.
  • Experience in a supervisory or lead role.
  • Knowledge of dental procedures, instruments, and sterilization methods.
  • Proficiency in using dental practice management software, analytic software, and office software like Microsoft Office.
  • Able to troubleshoot independently and work with technical support to resolve technology concerns, perform needed updates, and implement new technology into the dental office as needed.
  • Able to conduct preventive maintenance, troubleshoot, and resolve dental equipment in the office.
